A sound first stepping stone in Early Years Education where children flourish as happy, confident & secure individuals, well prepared for the move to primary school.
Based at Whilton Village Hall, we are within easy reach of The Bringtons, and being only 10 minutes drive from Daventry & Long Buckby, we are also the preferred pre-school of discerning parents from Daventry, Norton, Welton, Watford and The Haddons.
Brington & Whilton Pre-school is situated in a quiet rural village. The group takes full advantage of this countryside location and nature walks and village outings are an important part of the curriculum.
The Pre-school is registered with the Northampton Early Years Development and Child Care Partnership and provides structured activities for children aged 2 years 6 months to 5 years. The group receives funding for 3 year olds in the term after they are 3 and all 4 year olds.
The Pre-school structures activities around the six recommended Early Years Foundation Stage. These are:
Children are given the opportunity to learn by playing with a wide variety of activities including:
Children are provided with a snack (which varies with the current topic) and a drink of milk or water during all sessions. Water is available at all times during Pre-School.
The Pre-school endeavours to take regular walks in the village making use of the outside space. The group visits a local farm at lambing time and a summer outing at the end of the summer term is usually arranged.
Sessions are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (during term time). These run from 9.30am to 1.00pm on Monday and Wednesday when children stay for packed lunch and Friday 9.30am to 12noon. At collection time, parents/carers are requested to wait outside the hall until the session has ended.
In the last half of the summer term, the Pre-school sessions on Fridays are held at Brington Primary School to enable the children to familiarise themselves with a school environment. Children are invited to attend this session even if they will not be attending Brington School.
The Pre-school manager is Mrs Jenny Holman

The group is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and as a charity has adopted the PLA Constitution.
Please notify the Manager or a staff member if someone other than the parent or usual carer is to collect the child. This should be written in the Collection Book.

Parent – July 2010My son was very happy attending the Pre-school. He settled in very quickly and got on very well with the staff and the children. He has left pre-school a happy and confident little boy. I would highly recommend Brington and Whilton Pre-school.
Parent – July 2010Brington and Whilton Pre-school will always be an extremely fondly remembered part of our daughter's childhood. Despite never having attended any childcare setting prior to starting pre-school, and in those days being very shy and anxious, she settled immediately, and the confidence, pride in her achievements and respect for others that the pre-school has nurtured in her has been wonderful to see and she leaves the pre-school excellently prepared for the move to primary school.
